Never underestimate the power
of a true story. The experience
of a single individual can often inform, comfort or inspire many others.
And when the right story reaches the right person at the right
time, the effect can be life-altering.
This is especially true when
it comes to protecting our health. A
simple account heard on television or at the office can prompt us to take
action, sometimes with profound results.
Consider the woman who is tested and treated for Hepatitis C, only
after reading about the deadly disease in a newspaper.
Or the man who finally finds an effective treatment for his allergies,
thanks to the recommendation of a colleague.
There are so many important
stories, each with the potential to enhance countless lives.
Think of the grandfather who learns he has colon cancer and convinces
all of his friends to get screened. Or
the single “supermom” who helps other parents by cheerfully sharing her secrets
to success. Then there are the
cancer survivors who offer encouragement and advice to help the newly diagnosed
put up the strongest possible fight.
These individuals make up the
heart and soul of Information Television Network.
Their stories serve to educate others, arming viewers with the confidence
and courage of the well-informed. This
is the mission of ITV, a mission that has been achieved repeatedly through
a decade of award-winning television.
